As part of the Exchange and Commissaries continuing efforts to recognize all veterans and thank them for their sacrifices and service to our country, we are holding a Vietnam War Commemoration pinning event on Friday 29 March 2024 from 1100-1300 at the Whiteman AFB Exchange.
All Vietnam War Veterans will be presented with the lapel pin shown below. Attached is a fact sheet explaining the significance of the pin, not the least of which is that the message embossed on the back is worn closest to the heart of the wearer.
I ask for your help in spreading the word of this event, as I do not have contact information for all VFW Posts or American Legions Posts. We want to welcome home as many Vietnam Veterans as possible, as they deserve our thanks, not just on this day of recognition, but every day.
Access note for our Veterans that would like to attend:
Veterans who are eligible to obtain a Veteran Health Identification Card must use this credential for base access and to use these privileges. The card must display the veteran’s eligibility status, whether that be service-connected disabled, former POW or Purple Heart recipient. Upon the first visit to an installation, veterans must stop at the visitor control center.
I will be working with Security Forces to ensure those without one will be able to gain access. This will require some more information so I can put them on an Entry Letter. You can reach out to me with a list of those who do not have a VA card and I will let you know what I need provided to have them added.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter, and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Very Respectfully,
Emma-Jayne Cariglio
