  • The Post renovation committee is taking suggestions on what to include in a renovation of the spaces in the Post Home.  If you feel an area of the building needs a change, please let us know.  If you see a problem, let us know how you would address it.  We are doing primary studies as to what can be done to improve our Post. Send suggestions and solutions to ckoelsch2@gmail.com

Annual Members who have not yet renew their 2024 membership please do so by the renewal date on your membership card.  If your membership is due by June 30 go ahead and renew early, your renewal date for next year will remain the same.
If you need help with your renewal, please contact any of your Post officers.  We can help.  Consider going to an installment life membership plan.  Initial payment of $45.00 and then 11 monthly payments depending on age.
There is strength in numbers.  Your membership in the VFW gives the Organization that much more of voice when advocating Veterans Concerns and Priorities in front of Congress at the National Level and with State Legislators.
On the local Post level, we continue to help veterans with their issues and have an Honor Guard that salutes the veteran at funerals and help to make our community better.
We Sponsor Scholarships for local High school students with a parent or grandparent who has served their nation. We conduct annual VFW Patriots Pen Essay writing contest for middle school age students and VFW Voice of Democracy Speech contest for students at High School age. Each of these contests come with a cash prize and a chance to compete at the State and National levels.
If these items are of interest to you as a current or lapsed member, please, again, renew your membership today.

From Whiteman AirForce Base:

As part of the Exchange and Commissaries continuing efforts to recognize all veterans and thank them for their sacrifices and service to our country, we are holding a Vietnam War Commemoration pinning event on Friday 29 March 2024 from 1100-1300 at the Whiteman AFB Exchange.

All Vietnam War Veterans will be presented with the lapel pin shown below.  Attached is a fact sheet explaining the significance of the pin, not the least of which is that the message embossed on the back is worn closest to the heart of the wearer.

I ask for your help in spreading the word of this event, as I do not have contact information for all VFW Posts or American Legions Posts.  We want to welcome home as many Vietnam Veterans as possible, as they deserve our thanks, not just on this day of recognition, but every day.

Access note for our Veterans that would like to attend:

Veterans who are eligible to obtain a Veteran Health Identification Card must use this credential for base access and to use these privileges. The card must display the veteran’s eligibility status, whether that be service-connected disabled, former POW or Purple Heart recipient. Upon the first visit to an installation, veterans must stop at the visitor control center.

I will be working with Security Forces to ensure those without one will be able to gain access.  This will require some more information so I can put them on an Entry Letter.  You can reach out to me with a list of those who do not have a VA card and I will let you know what I need provided to have them added.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter, and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Very Respectfully,

Emma-Jayne Cariglio
